In 1981, the surviving members of Little Feat released Hoy! Hoy!, a two-record set of live, unreleased and archived tracks spanning the band's career. Seven years later, the band added longtime friend and collaborator Fred Tackett (guitars, mandolin, trumpet) and former Pure Prairie League frontman Craig Fuller (vocals and guitar), and Little Feat was reborn. Both Let It Roll and Representing The Mambo feature a solid balance between Feat's trademark straight-ahead boogie and moody ballads. Shake Me Up showed the band in another transitional phase. For Fuller who grew weary of life on the road, this would be his last album with the band. Ain't Had Enough Fun brought another member of the extended Feat family to center stage: background singer Shaun Murphy now split lead vocals with Paul Barrere. The double concert CD Live From Neon Park followed, featuring a final vocal cameo appearance from Fuller. Having been with two labels in a row that went belly-up (Zoo Entertainment and Morgan Creek), Feat landed at CMC International...home of many "classic" and re-formed bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Tubes, and more. The band still tours extensively, and still makes music that is well worth hearing. The 2000 Hotcakes and Outtakes box set features two CDs worth of the Lowell George years: previously released tracks and a heaping helping of tracks from the live album Waiting For Columbus. Disc 3 is a good overview of most of the CDs featured above, and the fourth disc is completely made up of outtakes and demos from the Lowell George vaults.
